EVANSVILLE, IN – Next week, Evansville Regional Airport (EVV) will celebrate the power of positivity with its first-ever EVV Kindness Week, an initiative inspired by airline partner Breeze Airways’ plans to celebrate World Kindness Day.
The weeklong celebration will take place Nov. 10–14 inside the EVV terminal, with kickoff programming beginning Saturday, Nov. 8 at 10 a.m. during the airport’s monthly 2nd Saturday Stories event in partnership with Evansville-Vanderburgh Public Library and We Are All Philanthropists. Storytime and activities will center around the theme of kindness, encouraging families and children to explore ways to give back and make a difference.
“When our airline partner Breeze Airways shared plans to celebrate World Kindness Day on November 13, we saw a wonderful opportunity to expand that spirit into a full week of kindness at EVV,” said Leslie Fella, EVV Director of Marketing and Air Service. “Airports connect people and places — and this week reminds us that kindness is what truly brings those connections to life.”
Throughout the week, passengers and visitors will be invited to participate in special activations including:
- Kindness Walls where travelers can post encouraging notes for others.
- Kindness Ambassadors from area nonprofits, law enforcement agencies, community organizations and businesses, local university officials and students, and media greeting passengers with smiles and encouragement.
- Daily community nonprofit partners that model kindness in action.
- EVV Crew Dogs, the airport’s therapy-dog team, scheduled periodically post-security throughout the week to spread comfort and joy.
Each day will also feature local nonprofit organizations onsite to help spread kindness and share their missions:
- Monday: Evansville Police Foundation, FOP Lodge 73 and Cops Connecting with Kids
- Tuesday (Veterans Day): Honor Flight of Southern Indiana and Sanctuary on the Hill
- Wednesday: University of Southern Indiana Disability Resources and Autism Everyone
- Thursday: Borrowed Hearts Foundation and Isaiah 1:17 Project
- Friday: United Way of Southwestern Indiana
