Evansville Regional Airport (EVV) has introduced GoodMaps, an accessible indoor navigation technology that helps travelers move through the terminal with greater independence and confidence.

The technology provides step-by-step guidance throughout the terminal using a mobile device. It is especially helpful for travelers who are blind or visually impaired, while also offering support for anyone who may want additional assistance navigating the airport.

The launch represents another step in EVV’s ongoing efforts to enhance accessibility and improve the travel experience for all passengers.

“We’re committed at Evansville Regional Airport to providing an accessible travel experience for everyone,” said Nate Hahn, EVV Executive Director. “Partnerships and tools like GoodMaps help us deliver on that commitment by ensuring travelers can move through our airport with greater independence and confidence.”

GoodMaps uses advanced indoor mapping technology and smartphone or tablet guidance to help travelers navigate complex indoor environments. The app provides precise directions and audio guidance, helping users locate key areas such as ticket counters, security checkpoints, gates and amenities.

Community partners have played an important role in shaping accessibility improvements at the airport, including members of EVV’s Accessibility Advisory Committee.

“Evansville Regional Airport has been a strong partner in working to enhance accessibility for travelers in our community,” said Karla Horrell, Evansville Association for the Blind Executive Director. “Navigation technology like this at our airport will make a meaningful difference for people who are blind or visually impaired.”

EVV partnered with GoodMaps to bring the technology to Evansville as part of the airport’s broader commitment to accessibility and customer experience.

“GoodMaps is proud to partner with EVV Airport to bring accessible indoor navigation to travelers,” said Kevin Kline, GoodMaps Community Engagement Representative. “Our technology is designed to empower people to navigate unfamiliar spaces independently, and we’re excited to see it supporting travelers here in Evansville.”
